  • NASA Space Center Tour: $65/person (includes admission)
What does the Historic Cowboy and Culture Tour include?

What does the NASA Space Center Tour include?

An air-conditioned bus tour to the NASA Space Center, about 60 miles from the hotel, including admission. It highlights the contributions of Black astronauts, engineers, and rocket scientists.

Be on time for departure!

Are tour prices the same for kids and adults?

Yes.

How many seats per tour?

50 seats on each bus.

Can I do both tours?

No — both run at the same time Saturday afternoon, so you'll need to choose one.

Genealogy & Workshops

Who's leading the genealogy workshop?

Dolores Rogers, a nationally recognized expert who works with the African American Museum in Houston.

She'll lead a 2-hour deep-dive session for those ready to go further, plus a 1-hour session for beginners.

Bring documentation and scanned images if you have them.

Will there be other workshops?

Yes — a Health and Mental Health workshop is also planned, with more educational sessions in development.

Kids & Teens

Is childcare available?

We're surveying interest. If there's enough demand, we'll hire a Black-owned childcare company that provides safe childcare at conferences and events — at an additional cost to individual families. Watch for the survey.

Will there be activities for kids and teens?

Yes — a Kids Power Hour on Saturday morning, the Thursday scavenger hunt, and additional youth activities being planned by Umeko.

Boots & Bling Dinner

What's the dress code?

Men wear boots, women wear bling — or vice versa. Anyone can mix it up. Come ready to sparkle!

Will there be a talent show?

Yes — get your karaoke, poetry, dancing, or other talents ready.

Will there be a fashion show?

Yes, also part of the Boots and Bling Dinner program.

What is the necrology service?

A time to honor and recognize family members who've passed away since our last reunion.

Will scholarships be awarded?

Yes, handled by the executive board. Please submit the names of graduating children, grandchildren, and relatives so they can be recognized.

Post-Reunion Cruise

Is there a cruise after the reunion?

There's been interest in an optional post-reunion cruise departing from Galveston (about 45 minutes from Houston). Details are being compiled and will be shared when available.

Fundraising

Why do we need to fundraise?

Registration fees don't cover all reunion costs — we need to raise an additional $6,000–$8,000.

What's the first fundraiser?

The Domino's Pizza "Slice the Price" fundraiser.

Sign up to sell

How does it work?

Buy a digital pizza card for $20 (about $22 with shipping).

Every large pizza purchase gets you a second one free — good until June 2028, accepted nationwide (with a few limited exceptions).

$10 from every card sold goes directly to the reunion fund.

How long does it run?

Two weeks only, starting immediately — act fast!

How do I sign up to sell?

You'll get your own personal link to share via text, email, or social media.

Are there prizes?

The top seller gets reserved special seating and their own table at the Boots and Bling Dinner.

Sell 15 cards for a bonus incentive, sell 50 for gift cards — ask Tanisha (our Domino's rep) or Dorcas Robinson for details.

What other fundraisers are planned?

More are coming, potentially including a "Family Foundations" monthly giving program. Attend the fundraising meetings for updates.

Can I just donate instead of fundraising?

Yes — a direct call for donations goes out toward the end of the year, and you'll also be able to join the Family Foundations program once it launches.

Financial & Payment Questions

Who's the reunion treasurer?

Kemmiko Grant.

How are funds managed?

The committee is working with the executive board to establish a separate bank account for the 2027 reunion, ensuring transparency and proper tracking.

How are payments collected?

Online payment methods are being set up for registration. Domino's fundraiser proceeds are direct deposited; other fundraisers may use paper checks.

Will there be a record of who's paid?

Yes — Kemmiko maintains a roster and shares updates at the bi-monthly meetings.

Who do I contact with financial questions?

Kemmiko Grant (treasurer) or any planning committee member.

Family & Lineage

Which family branch does this reunion represent?

All Hoover branches are welcome. The lineage traces back to Benjamin and Sylvia Hoover, and the reunion tradition began with Frank and Louella Hoover.

How do I find out which branch I belong to?

Share your name, city, and family branch in the chat during meetings or at registration. If you're unsure, the committee can help connect you.

How can I connect with other branches?

Attend the bi-monthly meetings, join the text/email lists, and reach out to the committee — we're actively working to connect with branches in Chicago, Las Vegas, Tucson, and other areas.

How do I update my contact information?

Send updates to the planning committee by email or text.
